Geotechnical Investigations

We also manage geophysical investigations such as:

  • GPR (Ground Penetrating Radar): For shallow subsurface mapping and utility detection.
  • MASW / SASW: Surface wave methods for shear wave velocity profiling and site classification.

Logistics are often as complex as the geology. We routinely:

  • Coordinate heli-access for remote sites
  • Navigate urban utility congestion and permitting
  • Manage traffic control, utility locates, and environmental/archaeological collaboration

Each site is unique, and our approach reflects that—balancing technical rigor with practical execution to ensure safe, efficient, and meaningful subsurface data collection

What & How

Geotechnical drilling in British Columbia demands versatility. From glacial till and fractured bedrock to soft marine clays and variable fill, the province’s terrain is as diverse as its climate zones. Our drilling programs are tailored to meet these challenges—whether we’re working in remote alpine regions or dense urban corridors.

We collaborate with trusted drilling subcontractors and coordinate a wide range of investigation methods, including:

  • Auger Drilling (Solid & Hollow Stem): Ideal for shallow soil profiling and instrumentation installations.
  • ODEX and Mud Rotary: Effective in overburden and mixed ground conditions, especially where casing is required.
  • Sonic and Becker Drilling: High-quality continuous sampling and dynamic penetration testing in difficult soils.
  • Rock Coring (HQ/NQ): For detailed bedrock characterization and structural geology assessments.
  • CPT, SCPT: Cone penetration testing with seismic capabilities for stratigraphy and soil behavior.
  • Test Pits: Excavated exposures for visual logging, sampling, and archaeological coordination.
